How to invoice time on Djaboo

Billing for time is a tradition in the service trades. However, if you're an independent contractor or manage a team, you may know that charging for time can be tricky. If you have chosen this option for your business, here is a guide that explains how to invoice time and explains how to do it on Djaboo.

By using the module “Projects“, you will be able to gather all your indicators for a given business or mission, among these indicators, you will find the hourly workload and the cost for example.

Here are a few steps to follow to make it easy:

For better understanding, we will take as an example Thierry, Trained network engineer working in an ESN/SSII.
Thierry is working on an infrastructure migration project for a client. Thierry is charged €150/hour.

So we are going to create a service called “Infrastructure Migration” to which we will specify a sale price of 150€: To add a service -→ “Sales-→ “Services” -→ “Add service”

Add a service
  • Title : Infrastructure Migration
  • Description : The deployment and migration of IT infrastructure are complex operations that require skills that not all companies have.
  • Unit Type : Hours
  • Category : Computer science
  • Amount excluding tax : 150
  • View in Customer Portal : Yes

One day like any other, a customer calls you and wants an intervention on his infrastructure. And discovers on its client portal that your services are billed at €150/hour.
You agree to intervene and create a project on this subject and associate a set of tasks and checklist to be carried out.

Thus, each time Thierry, work on this project, it starts the timer as soon as it starts the project and stops it as soon as it finishes. Or more simply add his working hours manually on the time sheet.

Add time sheet

Thierry therefore does his hours and works 10 hours on the project. The project is finished, it's time to send an invoice to the client.

  • Go to the “Sales” -→ “Invoice” from the project page, click on “Invoice the project"Fill in all the information, and"Save".
  • In the invoice click on “Add a service” let's add the “Infrastructure Migration” service:- Quantity : 10, Unit Type : Hours, Amount excluding tax : 150.
Time billed in Djaboo

We therefore obtain an invoice filled out with precision, the quantities of which represent the number of hours worked.

Note: You can authorize or not the customer to have access to the information of the time cards on your projects.
